From the Driver's Seat..

Day one: Quite an extravagant departure.... Something like "The Great Race!"  Of course, with the #40 car, we started last, which was an advantage. One minute separation. It rained with thunder and lightning all night with all the cars parked outside at the museum. Many cars soaked when the canvas and leather covers overfilled. Fang did well....other than leaving the center scoop wide open, we fared well. Small amount in trunk and a wet interior carpet. All dried out well before the start when the sun came out an hour before our noon departure.
Pam is navigating with race GPS system, which she mastered right away. Once out on the road the wind came up, and I mean UP!  90 degree left cross wind all day at a steady 30 kts with major gust....Our five hours of road time was a major workout at the wheel.... Truck were hard to pass as they were weaving back and forth taking up both lanes. Day one only had a few check points so we could all get use to navigating with the "system" Great progress until we came to road construction and sat in a very slow, and I. Mean slow line of traffic for over a half hour.
